Invitational firsts for debuting CHS

TULLY — Senior Katie Dovi won the girls’ long jump at 16-feet even and senior Zach Forrester took the 400-meters in 57.67 seconds Monday en route to leading the way for Cortland High at the Tully Coed Spring Break Invitational track and field meet.
Dovi was also second in the 100-meters in 13.75 and teamed with senior CeCe Tallman, freshman Rebecca Alteri and junior Madison Tripp to take fourth in the 400-meter relay in 1:00.40 in the non-scoring meet.
Forrester was also second in the 800m in 2:20.20 and combined with fellow seniors Nate Hamilton, Matt Bellardini and Frank Davenport to finish fourth in the 1,600m relay in 3:55.96.
Also for CHS girls, senior Emily Ross won the shot put at 30-0.5 and joined freshman Alexis Burnham, freshman Jessica Kryger-Stramba and junior Caitlin Little to finish second in the Throwers’ 400 relay in 1:10.16. Freshman Gabrielle Toussaint won the Novice 1,500m in 6:22.40, with classmate Gina Marks third in 6:29.40.
Senior Breanna Jones was third in the 400m in 1:16.66, while senior CeCe Tallman was fifth in the 200m in 32.61 and fifth in the long jump at 12-7 and freshman Rebecca Alteri sixth in the 200m in 32.94.
For Cortland boys, freshman Max Seymour was part of the third-place Throwers’ 400m relay squad in 1:00.10, along with senior Antonio Bustamante, sophomore Glenn Kenyon and freshman Ian George, and also took sixth in the novice shot put at 23-11.
Sophomores Austin Perelka and John Ruquet were fifth and six, respectively, in the 3,200m in 12:08.56 and 12:39.06, respectively and were joined by junior Nolan Moore and sophomore Chris Wescott in taking fourth in the 3,200m relay in 10:54.63.
Both Purple Tiger teams will next compete in the Cicero-North Syracuse Relays in April 12, starting at 4 p.m.
