Gator’s gals double up Steakhouse

Nicole Latham was 3-for-3 with three RBIs as Gator’s posted an 8-4 victory over Crown City Steakhouse in Cortland Women’s Slowpitch A Division softball play on Wednesday.

In other A Division outings, Hairy Tony’s downed Palm Gardens/Damaco Windows 16-5 and Maguire/Central City rocked Red Jug Pub 26-9.

In B Division action, One Cent Saloon defeated Homer Logging/NAPA 13-5, Tioga Hardwoods/Gator’s topped Red Dragon 23-14 and Contracting by Hull downed Ho-Beau’s 19-7.


Gator’s 8, Crown City Steakhouse 4: Alyssa Morgan swung a 3-for-3 bat for Gator’s, who scored three runs in the bottom of first and three more runs in the fifth to build some distance and secure the win.
SueAnn Stahlman went 2-for-3 for Crown City Steakhouse.

Hairy Tony’s 16, Palm Gardens/Damaco Windows: Hairy Tony’s plated seven runs in the second inning to pull away in this A Division clash. Mary Phelps led the attack by going 4-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored. Becky Merritt chipped in with a 3-for-3 effort and two ruins scored. Nicole Purcell went 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored.

Shanna Brown went 2-for-3 and scored once for Palm Gardens/Damaco Windows.

Maguire/Central City 26, Red Jug Pub 9: Stephanie Hartquist was one of six Maguire/Central City with perfect nights at the plate. Hartquist went 5-for-5 with a double and home run. Courtney Rainbow was 5-for-5 with a triple and Katrina Owens was 5-for-5. Going 4-for-4 were Mary Fratamico, Danielle Sheriff (double) and Danielle Dewey.

Beth Poulas added a 4-for-5 bat with a double and Christella Yonta was 3-for-5 with a triple.

Shannon Allen went 3-for-3 for Red Jug Pub. Aimee Dorward added a 2-for-3 bat.


One Cent Saloon 13, Homer Logging 5: Ruthanne Forehand had a big night for One Cent going 3-for-3 with a double, home run, two runs scored and one RBI. Sue Apley added her own 3-for-3 effort with four RBIs. Jody Maroney, D. Beets, Tiffany Sherman and Melissa Fox were each 2-for-3.

Chrissy Fisher was 3-for-4 for Homer Logging/NAPA. Abbey Homer provided a 2-for-3 bat and Stacie Young went 2-for-4.

Tioga Hardwoods/Gator’s 23, Red Dragon 14: Stacy Billings hit two home runs and Allyson Wilkins added three triples and one double as Tioga Hardwoods/Gator’s outslugged Red Dragon. Tyesha Sweat chipped in with a double and triple.

CeCe Tallman, Pam Wenck and Staci Schaffer each hit a double for Red Dragon.

Contracting by Hull 19, Ho-Beau’s 7: Brittini Griep paced the Contracting by Hull offense with her 5-for-5 bat that included a triple. Steph Harris went 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs while Lori Maricle was 4-for-4.
Katie Swanson and Jessica Parmiter were each 3-for-3 for Ho-Beau’s.


THE CORTLAND MEN’S Slowpitch League takes over city diamonds this evening, highlighted by an A Division tripleheader at Meldrim Field sending Red Dragon against Central City at 6 p.m., K&B Electric meeting Red Jug Pub at 7:15 p.m. and Stone Lounge taking on Gator’s at 8:30 p.m.

The same starting times are in play in the B Division at Dexter Park, where it’s Palm Gardens vs. St. Charles, EL Wood Braiding vs. The Crew and Gutchess vs. 747 Aviation.
