HOMER — Darren “Hal” McCabe defeated three-term incumbent Mayor Genevieve Suits in what may be the most surprising race among area village contests Tuesday.

McCabe, a Democrat, received 477 votes to Republican Suits’ 248 votes, according to an unofficial tally Tuesday night.
