A Suit-Kote Corp. employee died Wednesday after being hit by a dump truck while working on Route 80 in Tully.
Onondaga County sheriff’s deputies responded at 1:27 p.m. to Route 80 and Woodmacy Road for a report of an accident involving a construction vehicle.
A Suit-Kote employee was backing up a 2005 Western Star dump truck on Route 80 in a construction zone and struck another employee who was directing traffic, deputies said.
The employee directing traffic was seriously injured and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, police said. Neither of the employees’ names were released this morning , but police said they will be later.
Suit-Kote officials could not be reached for comment. The company’s headquarters are located in Polkville.
Route 80 between Vespar and Long roads was closed to traffic until around 7 p.m. while members of the sheriff’s department investigation team processed the scene.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
