Man dies in Freetown when tractor rolls

Sirens Police Ambulance Fire

A Freetown man died Thursday evening when his tractor rolled over, pinning him underneath, Cortland County sheriff’s officers said.

Reuben Coblentz, 41, of McGraw-Marathon Road, was trying about 5:25 p.m. to pull a wagon up a slight grade on his farm on McGraw-Marathon Road, when the tractor overturned, Lt. Todd Caufield said.

The tractor was an older-model Oliver that did not have a roll bar.

Relatives who were working at the farm were able to free the operator, using a jack.

Medics and firefighters from Marathon Fire and Rescue treated the victim at the scene, and he was taken by Marathon Ambulance to UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson city, where he died from severe internal injuries, Caufield said.
