The Section 3 Class B Wrestling Championships will take place Saturday.
Cortland High School and Homer Central School will send a number of wrestlers to Central Valley Academy in Ilion for a full day of competition scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
Trojan freshman Sam Sorenson is the lone competitor from the local schools to head into action as the top seed. Sorenson is the number one seed at 220 pounds with his 30-3 record. He is also considered the second seed at 195 pounds.
Homer junior Jacob Rice (19-4) is the second seed at 120 pounds or the sixth seed at 126 pounds.
Rice’s classmate, Jakob Denkenberger (14-10) is seeded third at 152 pounds while sophomore Zander Johnson (20-11) in the third seed at 160 pounds.
Freshman Lukas Quinn (7-6) is seeded fourth at 113 pounds and junior Ryan Opanhoske (19- 14) is the fourth seed at 138 pounds for the Trojans.
Other seeded wrestlers for Homer include junior Allan Markley (5th seed, 18-10) at 182 pounds, freshman Jeff Stauber (6th seed, 17-11) at 106 pounds, sophomore Tayvn Malchak (6th seed, 15-10) at 195 pounds, sophomore Collin Stevens (7th seed, 9-6) at 99 pounds and sophomore Carter Monroe (9th seed, 12-11) at 126 pounds.
Unseeded Trojans are sophomore David Morse (10-18) at 145 pounds, sophomore Blair Wakula (11-12) at 170 pounds and sophomore Raiden Sturdevant (1-11) at 285 pounds.
Cortland senior Noah Wurst (18-13) is the highest seeded Purple Tiger as he is the second seed at 145 pounds.
Other Cortland seeded wrestlers include junior Jarrod Bush (7th seed, 18-13) at 170 pounds and junior Marcus Hines (8th seed, 16-15) at 152 pounds.
Unseeded Purple Tigers are sophomore Luca Canzano (12-13) at 160 pounds, senior Devin Legacy (5-9) at 160 pounds, sophomore Brycen Palmer (4-5) at 182 pounds and junior Antonio Napolitano (2-4) at 195 pounds.
