Groton posts victory, ready for sectionals

The Groton boys’ varsity basketball team closed out the regular season on a high note Tuesday and now prepares for Section 4 Tournament action.

The Indians traveled to Susquehanna Valley for a non-league game and came away with a 62- 48 victory. Groton is 10-10 overall and awaits word on who the team will face in sectionals.

Groton got off to a good start and led 17-8 after the first quarter. The Indians increased their advantage to 29-17 by halftime and held a slight 33-31 edge in second half scoring to secure the win.

James Lucey paced the Groton offense with 26 points. Kade Eldred pitched in with 10 points.

Joe Waitkavicz paced Susquehanna Valley with 14 points. Matt Fiorento pitched in with 12 points for the Sabers.
