Police seek attacker in McGraw stabbing

Victim taken to hospital;police say motive in attack unclear.

Members from McGraw Fire Department, TLC Emergency Medical Services and the Cortland County Sheriff's Office assist a stabbing victim Wednesday outside of 20 West Academy St. in McGraw. Details are still pending as the investigation continues.

Police still seek the attacker who stabbed a man Wednesday afternoon in McGraw, Cortland County sheriff’s officers said this morning.

Police were called about 1:40 p.m. and the victim was found at 20 W. Academy St., but the assailant was not on the scene, according to Cortland County dispatchers.

The victim’s condition and details of of his injuries were not available as of this morning, the sheriff’s office said.

Police did not know the motive for the attack, although Lt. Todd Caufield said investigators believe it was an isolated incident.

Medics from McGraw Fire Department, TLC Emergency Medical Services and officers from the Cortland County Sheriffís Office responded to the scene. The victim was treated on the scene and loaded into an ambulance for Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for further treatment about 2 p.m.

The house is several doors away from McGraw High School, but both that and the nearby McGraw Elementary School are on winter break this week.
