One man dies, another wounded in Polkville stabbings

One man died of stab wounds while another received less-serious stab wounds in an incident Monday morning at a Polkville motel, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

A man who received wounds to the chest was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center in Cortland, where he died of his injuries, police said.

Another man received a stab wound that was non-life threatening and was also transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, where he was treated, police said. Neither man was identified.

Police said nobody else was involved in the incident that occurred about 7:20 a.m. at the Cortland Motel at 3832 Route 11, just west of Interstate 81’s Exit 10 and about two miles east of the city of Cortland.

Assisting at the scene were state police, the Cortlandville Fire Department and TLC Emergency Medical Services ambulance crews.
