The Homer Trojans boys’ soccer team returned to action this week, but their efforts came up short in a 1-0 loss to Faith Heritage Monday and a 6-2 loss to Fabius-Pompey Tuesday.
In Monday’s game, Homer controlled 52.2 percent of the possession, Brayden Fox made three saves and the offense fired three shots on target, but the lone tally by Faith Heritage was the difference.
In Tuesday’s game, Marc Harris was the offense for the Trojans, recording two goals. But Fabius-Pompey’s offense outclassed Homer, with two players recording two goals and two other players recording a single goal out of 15 shots on target.
Evan Butts made nine saves in Tuesday’s game.
Homer returns to action today at home against Bishop Grimes.
CROSS-COUNTRY SQUADS SWEPT BY TULLY
Despite some solid finishes at the top of the leaderboard, overall Tully took both the boys’ and girls’ cross-country races against Homer on Wednesday.
The Tully boys’ team defeated Homer 25-36, despite a top-two Homer sweep by Jed Swayze (17:55.5) and Ethan Lowell.
The Tully girls’ team won, 17-44, taking the top three spots, with Lily Fowler-Conner (20:03.3) edging teammate Katie Edinger by a mere one-tenth of a second.
Emma Anderson was the top finisher for Homer at 21:06.5.
