The National Weather Service has upgraded a winter weather advisory to a winter storm warning, expecting 7 to 12 inches of snow tonight in Cortland County.

The warning is effective from 3 p.m. today to 10 a.m. Thursday as up to 2 inches of snow are expected per hour in a nor’easter coming from the south. Winds will be east to northeast at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.

Parts of Pennsylvania expect to see 12 to 18 inches.

The weather service advises staying home, but if you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, water, blanket, and perhaps a shovel and sand in case you get stuck.
