The cause of a fire that destroyed a barn Thursday on McGraw Marathon Road in Cortlandville is under investigation, said Cortlandville Assistant Chief Mike Biviano.

Firefighters were dispatched about 2:15 p.m. for a reported barn fire at 3738 McGraw Marathon Road and found the storage barn fully engulfed.

No one was in the barn or in the residence next door during the fire. The residence was not damaged, but a nearby trailer was.

Biviano said the barn housed a woodworking shop and paving equipment.

The fire was under control in about 20 minutes.

Fire crews from Homer and McGraw assisted, along with state police. National Grid also was on the scene.
