Cortland-Homer, down by 2 goals, rallies for 2-2 tie

The Cortland-Homer Golden Eagles hockey team came back from two goals down to salvage a tie, while the McGraw Eagles boys basketball team won a shootout against Otselic Valley.


Cortland-Homer 2, West Genesee 2

Trailing 2-0 with four minutes left in the second period, Logan Swartz and Tanner Douglass each tallied a goal and an assist in the span of four minutes between the second and third periods to help the Golden Eagles salvage a tie in their home finale.

West Genesee committed seven penalties, including three in the final three and a half minutes of the second period, allowing Swartz to tally his goal on the power play.

Garret Clark stopped 17 of 19 West Genesee shots.

The Golden Eagles finish their season with road contests Thursday at Auburn and Friday at CBA.


McGraw 68, Otselic Valley 52

It was a three-point shootout between league rivals as McGraw’s Zach LaMarre (five three-pointers, 23 points overall) outdueled Otselic Valley’s Lane Adams (six three-pointers, 22 points total) and Braeden Davis (three three-pointers, 23 points) to help McGraw to victory.

Caleb Smith added 14 points and Caleb Knickerbocker had 11 points as the other McGraw players in double figures.


DeRuyter 3, Sherburne Earlville 1

The Rockets shook off a 2522 first-set loss to win the next three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-10.

Alynna Kanaby had 22 digs and three aces for the Rockets. Jaidan Degear added 15 kills, four digs and three aces; Olivia Lidell had 36 assists and four digs; Keely Worlock had 13 digs, three kills and two aces; Graycee Forrest had 11 kills, six digs and three aces; and Jet Williams had 10 kills.
