The Dryden boys soccer team dominated McGraw in every fashion Saturday en route to a 10-1 victory.
Casey Phillips led the Lions with a hat trick and two assists. Nolan Welk had two goals and two assists, Jackson Crocker had two goals, Zack Wilson had a goal and three assists and Corey Matesanz and Rickey Bachner had a goal each, with Bachner’s being his first varsity score.
“We moved the ball around well today,” Lions coach Laszlo Engel said. “I liked the way we possessed the ball and took care of the ball today. McGraw is a much better team than the score reflected. They are fast and pass very well. They defend extremely well as a group. I liked how they played together.”
Jackson Card had the lone tally for McGraw in the second half.
The Lions outshot the Eagles 27-3 and drew nine corners to the Eagles’ one.
“We moved our players around a bit and they continued to play no matter. Our defending was also very good today. Our talk on the field made a difference. Our fitness is good and we are improving that every game.”
Dryden’s next game is 5 p.m. Tuesday at Elmira. McGraw’s next game is 5 p.m. Wednesday when they host Madison.
