A 21-year-old man was pulled from a body of water in Scott on Wednesday, but was later pronounced dead at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, Cortland County sheriff’s officers said.
The man, who police did not identify, was part of a work crew in the area of Cold Brook Road, police
said. His co-workers told police he went into a pond, which was not identified, shortly before 9:43 a.m. and they pulled him out, unbreathing.
They called 911 and got instruction on how to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The man’s family has been notified, police said. The Homer Fire Department, state police, TLC Ambulance and the Cortland County Coronoer’s Office responded to the scene.
The investigation continues and people with information can call Sgt. John Gallagher at 607-758-5562.
