Sections III and IV of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association have released the seedings for spring sectional tournaments.
No statewide championships will be held, but teams will be able to compete for a sectional title at the end of a difficult year-plus without championships of any kind because of the pandemic.
The Cortland Purple Tigers earned the No. 1 seed in the Section III Class A tournament. They will host the winner of today’s game between Central Square and Oswego at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex.
The Homer Trojans earned the No. 4 seed in the Section III Class B1 tournament. Section III split Classes B and C into two tournaments due to the large number of qualified teams in order to fit all games within the allotted time. They will host Westhill at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Homer High.
The DeRuyter Rockets are the No. 9 seed in Section III Class D. They will visit Hamilton at 5 p.m. today, with the winner visiting No. 1 seed Lyme at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The Marathon Olympians are the No. 7 seed in Section IV Class D. They visit undefeated No. 2 seed Edmeston at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The McGraw Eagles are the No. 10 seed in the 16-team Section III Class C bracket. They visit Port Byorn at 5 p.m. today.
The Dryden Lions earned the No. 6 seed in Section IV Class B. They visit Chenango Forks at 5 p.m. today.
Marathon is the No. 4 seed in Section IV Class D. It hosts Gilboa-Conesville at 5 p.m. today.
DeRuyter is the No. 7 seed in Section III Class D. It hosts LaFargeville at 5 p.m. today, with the winner visiting Poland on Tuesday at a time to be determined.
The Homer boys earned the No. 3 seed in the seven team Section III Class C bracket. The Trojans will host Carthage at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The Homer girls were seeded No. 2 in Section III Class C and will play Thursday against the winner of Jamesville-Dewitt vs. Whitesboro.
