Cortland County adds 24 cases

Cortland County confirmed 24 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, the last day figures were released, bringing the total to 6,886 cases.

Tompkins and Cayuga counties reported 93 new cases Thursday. The number of people who have contracted the virus increased to 23,845 across Cortland, Tompkins and Cayuga counties since the pandemic began in March 2020. The number of people who have died from the virus remained 259.

  • The Cortland County Health Department was monitoring 434 patients Wednesday, 131 of them confirmed positive. Ten people were hospitalized. Since the pandemic began, 344 people have been hospitalized. The Cortland County Health Department has received 172,815 negative test results. The county has reported 86 deaths.
  • Tompkins County reported 60 new cases Thursday, reports the state Health Department. The number of confirmed cases rose to 7,341. The state reports 2,731,919 had been tested. Sixty-one Tompkins residents have died.
  • In Cayuga County, the state Health Department reported 33 new cases Thursday. Confirmed cases rose to 9,618. The state reports 278,676 people had been tested. The state reports 112 people have died.

155,912 get shots in three counties

The state Health Department reports 27,955 Cortland County residents have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine as of Wednesday, the most recent day figures were released, or 58.8% of the county’s total population and 67% of its people over 18. A total of 54.5% of the county has been fully vaccinated.

In Tompkins County, 83,190 people have received at least one dose, or 81.4% of the population and 87% of people over 18; 72.7% are fully vaccinated.

In Cayuga County, 44,767 residents have received at least one dose, or 58.5% of the total population and 66.8% of people over 18; 54.4% are fully vaccinated.

Statewide, 14.85 million people have received at least one dose, or 77.5% of the state’s population and 90.3% of its people over 18; 68.2% of the total population is fully vaccinated, as is 80.5% of its people over 18.

Cortland County rate 275 per 100K

Cortland County reported 131 new cases of coronavirus from Nov. 18 to Wednesday, the most recent day figures were released.

The national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Cortland has 290.03 new cases per 100,000 people over the past week.
