Groton woman charged with stealing $1 million from Cortland County employer

A Groton woman was charged Monday with stealing more than $1 million over years from her Virgil employer, state police said.

Jeanne M. Parr, 53, was charged with first-degree grand larceny, and first-degree falsifying business records, felonies.

The arrest followed a yearlong investigation after the owner of JD Ferro Roofing on Route 13 in Virgil found Parr had been stealing company funds for years, state police said. Investigators said they concluded she stole more than $1 million and falsified business records to cover the theft.

Parr was taken to Cortland County Jail to await arraignment at the county’s centralized arraignment facility.

The Troop C Bureau of Criminal Investigation was helped by the state police Financial Crime Unit.
