: Evan serves as editor and manages the operations of the newspaper.
Born and raised in the city of Cortland, Evan began his career at the Cortland Standard
in 2006 as a staff reporter after graduating from Bucknell University. As part of his management training, he later worked in each department at the newspaper in order to learn their various positions and responsibilities. He assumed the role of publisher in July 2013. He is the fifth generation of his family to be involved in the newspaper.
Evan enjoys the outdoors, whether camping, boating, fishing, hiking, running or skiing, as well as spending time on the St. Lawrence River with his family. At the home in Virgil that Evan shares with his wife, Jennifer, he listens to and makes music, reads, cooks and plays fetch with the couple’s Golden Retriever, Sully.

: Todd oversees the newspaper’s news coverage.
BS in journalism, with a minor in sociology from Syracuse University.
McAdam, a 30-year communications professional, joined the Cortland Standard
in November 2015. He has been an award-winning reporter and editor in Binghamton, a political aide and a freelance writer focusing on science and research. In his spare time, he is a “locavore” who creates recipes and meals from local foods, trains in and teaches karate, and continues writing about science and research.

: Kevin helps coordinate and edit local news coverage.
BA in mass communication from St. Bonaventure University, 1985.
Kevin took his first job out of college as a reporter at the Cortland Standard
. After four years, he left to work for a year as a reporter and bureau chief at The Record in Troy, then eight years as a reporter at the Daily Gazette in Schenectady. He returned to the Cortland Standard
as city editor in 1998 and was promoted to managing editor in 2000. Kevin and his wife, MaryBeth, are the parents of seven children.

: Katie writes community interest stories, focusing on non-profits, social clubs, seniors and children, literature and the arts.
She has a bachelor’s in English from SUNY Oswego and a master’s of art in Teaching from SUNY Cortland.
Katie has worked for the Cortland Standard
for 19 years, starting as a typist in the composing room, and then covering the town of Homer, city and county government as a reporter, before assuming her current post around 2000. Before this, she was a self-employed day care provider, staying home with her two children, Kim and Mike, for five years. She loves biking, walking her two dogs, Sammy and Stub, cooking soup and reading a good novel. She grew up on Long Island.

Colin received a bachelor’s degree in writing and rhetoric from Hobart College in 2019.
Colin joined the Cortland Standard in 2019. He enjoys listening to music, exercising, watching sports, reading, playing video games and exploring new areas.

: Sam covers athletics, particularly Cortland, Cincinnatus, DeRuyter and McGraw.
A.A. in liberal arts, communications concentration from Middlesex Community College, 2015; B.S. in communications, journalism concentration, interactive multimedia minor from Salem State University, 2018.
Sam comes to the Cortland Standard after 11 years covering high school, college and amateur sports in the Boston area as a newspaper reporter and play-by-play announcer. He was the founder and sole proprietor of his own webcasting and sports media business, Local Sports Productions, and was a part of eight Intercity Baseball League championship teams with the Lexington Blue Sox. He also called games for Lawrence Academy, Mass Bay Community College and the Boston Junior Bruins. In his spare time he enjoys watching sports, video and card games, trivia nights, mini golf, bowling, Dave & Buster’s, casinos, conventions, tournaments and cooking.

: Andrea serves as a marketing consultant to a variety of businesses and organizations.
Andrea has worked in the display advertising department of the Cortland Standard
since July 1998, coming from an art background. In addition to the daily opportunity to be creative, her favorite part of working at the newspaper is the relationships she has built with her coworkers and loyal clients.
Originally hailing from the Bronx, Andrea moved to the area with her mother and stepfather in 1988 and attended Dryden High School. She then received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Art & Design at Alfred University in 1996. She also took additional classes in typography and graphic design at Tompkins Cortland Community College, in order to be prepared for employment in the advertising world.
Andrea lives in Groton with her husband, Alan, their two sons, Bryce and Colin, who attend Groton Elementary School, as well as their two Labrador Retrievers, Charlie and Maggie. In her spare time, Andrea still loves to create art, both for their home as well as commissioned house and pet portraits.

: Jessica serves as a marketing consultant to a variety of businesses and organizations.
Jessica is the newest member of the Cortland Standard’s Advertising Team, coming to us in January 2020 from Marvin Windows. Moving here from Long Island in 2007, she is a 2013 graduate of Moravia High School and earned an AAS in Mathematics and Science from Cayuga Community College (Auburn Campus) in May 2015.
Jessica’s favorite part about her job is building client relationships and writing copy for your ads. In her free time, Jessica enjoys memes, cross-stitching, spending time outdoors, and coffee. She and her husband Josh are proud parents to twin girls.
