The Cortland High boys’ lacrosse team closed out its regular season Monday with a 16-11 non-league Senior Night win over Tully on Moiseichik Field.
The Purple Tigers improved to 7-9 with the win, earning a berth in the upcoming Section 3 Class C tournament. Tully is now 6-9.
Brandon Ludwig scored six goals to lead the Purple Tigers offensively. Alex Myers had three goals and three assists, Rory Hines three goals and two assists, Pat Hartnett two goals and two assists and Nick Litzenberger two goals and an assist. Goalie Ben Pallone made 11 saves, as did Tully goalie Ben Reed.
Ty Edinger led the Black Knights with four goals and three assists. Will Hardy scored three goals, Jake Edinger had two goals and four assists, Anthony Martino and Dillon Koons had one goal each and Dante Cuttino had an assist.
Honored in Senior Night ceremonies were Myers, Hartnett, Pallone, Brandon Batsford, Isaiah Bowers, Bali Cornell, Jack Davie, Kyle Harrington, George Hines, Logan McGee, Andrew Randall and Ian Wooldridge.
The Cortland JVs beat Tully 13-6 and are now 8-7 on the season. Owen Riley and Kaleb Thorhauer scored three goals each for the Purple Tigers. Martin Monroe and Jaden Fitch had a goal and an assist apiece while scoring one goal each were Ben Hay, Collin Williams, Chris MacDuffee, Tay Pittman and Landon Rozewski. Ethan Myers made four saves, Tyler Gavitt stopped five shots and Brandon Martin made two saves as they shared time in the CHS goal.
“With the game firmly out of reach at halftime, it was a great opportunity to play the guys that have been working hard in practice,” Cortland coach Dustin Bush said.
The Purple Tiger JVs conclude the season Saturday by visiting Oswego at 10 a.m.
